Vernakalant IV was approved in September 2010 and has been launched in the European Union and other countries under the trade name BRINAVESS™ by Merck. In September 2012, Merck and Cardiome announced the return of global marketing and development rights for both vernakalant IV and oral formulations back to Cardiome.

Cardiome is seeking development and commercialization partners that: 1) enables continued patient access to BRINAVESS™ in already launched markets; 2) has proven competence in garnering new approvals and successfully launching products; and 3) are committed to developing novel products that meet the needs of both patients and physicians.
Cardiome is open to a variety of partnership structures that mazimizes the value of BRINAVESS™ and ensures continual patient access to this much needed novel atrial fibrillation cardioverting drug.
